How it works
- Step 1 – mark any substances you have ever used.
- Step 2 – for each one, answer past 3 months questions. If “Never” in past 3 months, you still answer the concern and cut‑down questions.
- Step 3 – tap “Score now” to see your risk by substance. Alcohol has different cutoffs. Injecting is highlighted but not counted in the score.
Scoring follows WHO ASSIST v3.0. Alcohol: low 0‑10, moderate 11‑26, high 27+. Others including tobacco: low 0‑3, moderate 4‑26, high 27+. Tobacco excludes the “failed to do what was expected” item from the score.
Step 1 – Lifetime use
In your life, which of the following substances have you ever used? (NON-MEDICAL USE ONLY). Check all that apply. If none, you can still scroll down to learn and find help.
About ASSIST
The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test was developed by the World Health Organization to identify risky or harmful substance use and possible substance use disorders in primary care and other settings. ASSIST asks about lifetime use and past 3 months patterns across tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, amphetamine‑type stimulants, inhalants, sedatives, hallucinogens, opioids, and other drugs. Each substance gets a score that falls into low, moderate, or high risk. Alcohol uses a different low‑risk range than other substances.
