About the PSC

The PSC is a brief questionnaire that helps identify possible emotional, behavioral, or attention concerns. The parent version covers ages 6 to 18. The youth self report covers about ages 11 to 17. The checklist has been validated in many settings and languages. Cutoffs: parent total 28 or more suggests further evaluation. Youth total 30 or more suggests further evaluation.

FAQ

What do my results mean?
Scores below the age appropriate cutoff are negative screens. Scores at or above the cutoff are positive screens. Positive screens suggest you may want to talk with a clinician for a full assessment.
Are there subscales?
The original PSC-35 focuses on a total score. A short form called PSC-17 includes subscales for internalizing, externalizing, and attention. This page shows the 35 item versions for parent and youth.
Will my answers be stored?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your choices auto save to your device and the shareable link encodes your score in the URL hash. Our servers do not store responses.
Can the PSC diagnose a disorder?
No. It is a screen. Only a licensed clinician can diagnose.
What if I am close to the cutoff?
You can monitor and retake later. Consider using our self help tools and speaking with a clinician if concerns continue.
Where did these questions come from?
