ISAA FAQ

What does ISAA measure

Autism-related behaviors across six domains with 40 items scored 1 to 5 using frequency anchors. The total shows overall severity, and domain totals show a profile.

Who should use ISAA

It is intended for trained evaluators in clinical or program settings. Family members can learn how it works, but certification in India is done by authorized boards.

How is ISAA scored

Each item 1 to 5. Total 40 to 200. Severity bands: below 70 no autism; 70 to 106 mild; 107 to 153 moderate; above 153 severe. These bands are used in disability programs.

Is ISAA a diagnosis

No. It supports assessment and, in India, informs certification. Diagnosis involves a clinical evaluation with developmental history and DSM-5 criteria.
