Turn-Taking Tempo
Practice the rhythm of conversation.
High Score: 0

🚀 How to Play

1️⃣ Your “partner” will start “speaking” (the circle will light up). Your goal is to listen.

2️⃣ When they stop speaking, their light will turn off. This is your cue!

3️⃣ Press the “Speak” button during the natural pause.

💡 Too early? That’s interrupting. Too late? That’s an awkward silence. Find the right tempo!

💡 The Why & How

“Turn-Taking Tempo” is a drill to practice one of the most fundamental skills in social communication: conversational turn-taking.

Who Is This For?

This game is for anyone who wants to improve their social rhythm. It’s especially helpful for individuals (including those with Autism or Social Anxiety) who find it hard to know “when” to speak in a conversation, often worrying about interrupting or waiting too long.

The Science Behind It

Conversations aren’t just about words; they are about timing. Research shows that the gaps between speakers in a typical conversation are incredibly short (around 200 milliseconds).

  • This game simulates this “rhythm.” Your “partner” speaks for a variable amount of time. Your job is to detect the end of their turn and respond within a “golden window” of time.
  • By practicing this, you train your brain to become more comfortable with the “listen-pause-respond” pattern, reducing the anxiety of “when do I jump in?” and the impulse to interrupt.
